Guest designer – Frederik Rombach
In our daily life we are so familiar with glass, but can we imagine how much potential this shiny substance offers to art ? Luckily there are some artists out there with enormous imagination, like Frederik Rombach, who demonstrates to us that it is possible to turn glass into a fairy tale.
Frederik Rombach is a successful glass artist born in Leuven, Belgium. He is currently based in Antwerp where he opened his glass studio Rombach Glass. His work offers a lot of products and sculptures, all more fantastic than the others, such as lamps, vases, or even scorpions and all kinds of other fantastic stuff! All of them are unique, but above all: everything he creates comes from bottles and thrown away glass.

Indeed, the environmental dimension is an important part of his work. In addition to all his entirely-made from-waste-glass creations, Frederik Rombach designs and makes all these products with an environmental and sustainable point of view.

As mentioned before, Frederik Rombach was born in Belgium but he grew up in South Africa. Then he moved to the Netherlands where he will later study architecture. He also lived in Mexico and in the USA where he worked with the artist James Hubbell and his son Drew Hubbell. A rich journey and a globe trotting life experiences that certainly has an impact on his work and his vision.
Frederik’s work is everything but ordinaire. It is simply extra-ordinaire. He has the talent to breathe life in each of his glass designs. Through his stunning work, he offers us unique and original pieces.
And if you are lucky enough to visit Rombach Glass, you may come away with some awesome upcycled and handcrafted pieces but you may also be able to see a great glass blowing show, since they host demonstrations during which they make sculptures out of waste glass. Isn’t that great?
In any case his work must be seen, that’s why we invite you to come and discover his work at the store !
