THE GRID
A game on a human scale.
It all started at an idea in Jean-Paul’s mind: what if we could create a game out of the imposed restrictions surrounding the Covid-19 crisis? It didn’t take long before the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert and the city of Brussels took part in this crazy project.
Picture it; a human-sized chess game in the heart center or Brussels! Well, it was actually simpler than chess, but still tricky. Anyone crossing THE GRID – which was set-up using kilometers of recycled tape & eco-paint – had to make sure all bordering squares to the one she/he/it was on were free. Only that way could the player make sure covid-19 physical distancing was respected. Of course, the rule had to be respected through the advancement of the by-passer (anyone entering THE GRID was a player) in the game. Thanks to both the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert, and the city of Brussels, we were able to set-up troop of comedians to play characters specially created for the game and, all inspired by the history of the heart-center or Brussels!
