The Great Unpacking #1 – Mexico

The first of its kind!

Through this event Extra-Ordinaire launched what is to be a series of events where a designer showcases her/his findings and collaborations with artisans from a region of the world in which she/he traveled for mandated by the project. For the first edition, it was our initiator, Jean-Paul Lespagnard, who showcased curiosities he had found and developed from the beautiful country of Mexico. A two-month long journey through the cities of Guadaljara, Puebla, Oaxaca and Mexico City to search, develop and then work on bringing back all discoveries & creations.  It would be a euphemism to say that he had found wonders. From ceramics to carpets, from masks to little curiosities, from exclusive handmade statues to unthinkable twisted objects; you name it! That’s why we decided to call this event THE GREAT UNPACKING, because of how big and surprising this series of events ought to be.  On this occasion, we invited Green Lab – a local cocktail bar from Brussels – for some cocktails and a mezcal tasting. We’re thirsty writing about this!
